Ice Storm

Feeling like a rocking chair

This has been an extremely rare winter. It has been about 30 years since we have had such a winter. Personally, I will be glad when I can complain about the heat. I really don't like winter time even though I am not quite as cold these days as I was a few years back. We've only been to school 6 days in the month of February. It always seems really fun at first when we get a snow day, but now that we've had 8 of them, the fun is history!! I want to go to school. It's looking pretty foggy out there tonight so I don't know if we will make tomorrow or not. I sure hope so. We NEED to have the Valentine's party. If we don't do it soon, we will be combining it with the Easter Bunny:)

I wanted to add some photos of the ice, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I"ll have to rethink this part since it has been so long since I've posted. Oh yah, let me get to the rocking chair part. Since Jeff had surgery on his knee 2 1/2 weeks ago we have had a small taste of life after retirement. Actually, at this rate, I can tell you I will NEVER retire!!! We find ourselves looking forward to the news, watching The Beverly Hillbillies ( and laughing), and planning our meals around leftovers. Seems like what my grandparents did. OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting ready to gather my things in hopes that I can head out of that door to school at 7:45 in the morning. If I don't, maybe I'll figure out how to add a picture to this blog. Enjoy the days ahead. May they be filled with fun. Debbie

Girls Day Out

01-12-08

This was the day for the Mark Schulz concert. MiKensey, Caroline, Tina, and Debbie headed out at noon for a meal at Cracker Barrel before the concert. Although, we ALL LOVE to eat at Cracker Barrel, that proved to be an unpleasant choice for the day. Good thing we went plenty early, because it took 45 minutes to get our food AFTER, we ordered for the 2nd time!!!! I think there was a mix-up somewhere-- I'm just not sure where. BUT, once we got our food, it was good, as usual.

We got to the concert right at 5 til 2. The doors were scheduled to open at 2:00. TWENTY minutes later, we finally got to go in from the cold wind. We did get 6th row seats, but the A/C was blowing right on us. He did a fabulous concert and we enjoyed it very much. I'm really glad that we got to go and that we got to take Tina and Caroline.

Jeff and I are headed out for a date tonight. We are going to fill MiKensey's car up with gas and then eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. She has gone to the ballgame with Caroline.

Ryan starts his job on Monday with the MSU campus police. We are so proud of him--- it's just hard to put into words. Dustin is studying for his exams - the next 2 are on the 17th and the 20th. Please say a prayer for him, as I know they will be difficult. He will begin his 2nd semester around the first of February.

I am hoping to get rested up and ready for next week and that next week will not be as difficult as last week was. I guess it's just getting used to a full week again. Enjoy your weekend.

First Friday back to school

This proved to be a super-fast week at school. It's almost over already!! And, I have deleted the other 2 attempts at blogs that I did not realize I had even created. Thanks T for your help.
We are going to make snowflakes today. I would rather make them, than have them. So.... here goes.

Day 2

Maybe I have figured this out. I'm pretty uncertain about how to do this, but we'll see. I was really just trying to see if I could figure it out, and hopefully I have. Now, if I can just remember how I got here. LOL

The weather is soooooooo cold here. It was 11 degrees when I left the house this morning. The wind has been crazy. I canNOT imagine being caught out in a snowstorm or the mountains and lost. That would be terrible!!

Tomorrow we will have students. It will be a wild day. A first day back always is... but once you get started, it's usually okay. We will make snowflakes and snowmen. Sounds easy enough, but putting 26- 2nd graders into a room and doing art is absolute insanity. I guess that's why I fit the job. I feel completely insane a lot of times.

Well, if I don't get to bed, I'm going to regret it in the morning. So, I will close for now. I"ll try to post a picture, IF I can remember how to do that. Goodnight.!!

Christmas Blessings

WOW!!! 2008- How can it already be this year? I remember in the past, trying to get used to a new year; now it seems like just yesterday and it's already a new year! We had a wonderful Christmas this year. The best gift of all was being together with our families. The tree is down and most of the decorations are put away so I am ready to get back to a regular routine.
Everyone always makes new years resolutions. I know a few I should make, but I think mostly I will just try to listen to what God is telling me and live more like I should- like Jesus. I am so thankful for our family and our children. I don't want to miss any chances that I have of always doing the right thing. We should ALL do that, don't you think?
